If you’re a Sydney-sider and you haven’t been to Auburn on a food adventure yet, you absolutely should. Student Biryani is a classic example of some of the delicious food you can experience in Auburn.
I have been dying to try Student Biryani for such a long time as a huge lover of biryani and more generally, Pakistani food. Student Biryani is an international chain and its name if I had to guess, probably comes from the fact that the serves are huge and the prices are inexpensive, making it highly suitable for students.
There are combo meals with not only the famous biryani, but also fried chicken (with the menu actually not looking too dissimilar to KFC in aesthetics!), curry and more. My dining companion and I had the “Meal 8” which included a small chicken biryani, half a chargha (fried chicken), fries, a dinner bun, raita (a yoghurt cucumber dip), salad and 2 cans of soft drink. All for the low low price of $21.

All in all, I loved the biryani with all of the spices and the tender chicken. The fried chicken was a tad dry but well marinated and to be honest, in a very large meal with a lot of carbs, the dinner roll was a bit unnecessary. But going back to that biryani, I would come back for that time and time again… The curry-like chicken that is hidden under that mountain of rice is so flavoursome and so so soft.
Student Biryani was absolutely bustling at about 2pm on a Saturday but they do a pretty efficient and friendly table service. Families were gathered enjoying their meal, including bucket size servings of the biryani (yes please!) as well as platters of different grilled meat. I also saw some beautiful grilled fish go past my table that I made a mental note to come back and try. Let me know if you’ve been to Student Biryani and have any recommendations!
