Superior Burger, Wakeley

Oh what a feeling! Oh what a burger!

I’m not really sure what Superior Burger is doing in Wakely, but whatever it is doing, it should keep on doing it because by far, the burger I had from Superior Burger was the best one I’ve had in a long time…  For the record, I had the ‘Superior Burger’ (after all, if it is named after the place, it must be good!)

I have grappled with myself as to why I really enjoyed the burger and I think it really came down to the ratio. After all, burgers aren’t hard to get right, but the Superior Burger seemed to have just the right ratio of bun to meat to salad. The burger tasted really fresh, with a delicate balance between the meat and cheese, the acidity of the pickles and the crunch of the lettuce. The beef patty was cooked medium rare and was still juicy and I like that they don’t try to do a huge meat patty which often ruins burgers for me.

The beer battered potato scallop (which you can see a glimpse of in the photo above) was a nice blast from the past. It was generously battered and cooked to perfection with the potato cooked to the point just before it gets too soft.
