Sik Gaek is my choice for a la carte Korean restaurants in Campsie. There is a huge range on the menu from hot pot to fried chicken to bbq to side dishes.
I’ve been here a few times now for hot pot and both the kim chi pork rib and the spicy pork bone & chinese cabbage are flavourful, fresh and very tasty. They’re also a large size – you could easily split a hotpot between 3 people with rice. The only negative for me was that they definitely could be spicier and pack a bit more of a punch as the flavours are good but a little mild.

The fried chicken is also great – it’s no Arisun but it’s still pretty good. I’ve had both the original and the spicy and they are crispy and delicious. The only downside is that there is an occasional piece that is a little dry.

The other dishes on the menu are also consistently very good. The seafood pancake is doughy, and crispy with a generous amount of seafood and the stir fried ox tongue is spot on.
The other pleasing thing about Sik Gaek is the banchan – there’s usually a good selection of 6 or 7 side dishes including kimchi and various other goodies.
