I am semi-obsessed with sushi trains. It is rare that I would opt to eat sushi not at a sushi train restaurant. There is a joy in being able to pick from a multitude of small plates of different sushi rolling past you on the train.
K’s Sushi was a lucky find, amongst the range of other restaurants in Burwood, mostly Chinese restaurants. At 7:30pm on a Friday night, it was already packed and we had to wait about 15 minutes for a place at the sushi train which is a good thing because at least it meant the sushi was fresh (has anyone else wondered how the chefs know how long individual items have been on the train?)
Great variety! At really decent prices with plates costing $3, $4 and $5 unless they are expensive/special dishes such as sashimi ($8.90). Everything tasted fresh though the sashimi could have been better possibly even from being fresher or from better knife work as the texture tasted like the fish had been over- handled. The best dish of the night though was the spicy salmon nigiri – the spicy sauce was a little different to others I’ve had at other Japanese restaurants and had a decent kick. We were lucky also to grab the grilled eel (unagi) nigiri whilst it was still warm – really fantastic eel!
