I have no idea how long Sushi Jones has been open for, but somehow, I had managed to miss noticing its street location near the Dan Murphy’s in Alexandria for all of this time. Wasted time, I might add!
Sushi Jones was great. There was a varied Japanese menu from small dishes to hot pots to rice dishes to sushi and sashimi plates. The main takeaway (no pun intended) from dining there was that the food was very fresh and tastes very ‘clean’.
Miso eggplant is one of my all-time favourite Japanese dishes. The creaminess of the eggplant combined with the gooey, sticky sweetness of the caramelised miso is just perfection. The dish at Sushi Jones was fantastic and had just the right amount of sweetness with a great crispiness on the eggplants from the light batter.

This grilled chicken dish served with rice, doesn’t look like much at all in retrospect. But it was a beautiful dish. The chicken was so so so moist with a very light amount of saltiness that accentuated the flavour of the chicken itself. If I can ever learn to cook chicken like that, in a way that appears to be so simple, but tastes so amazing, I’ll have accomplished a huge task (sad, I know).

Finally, we had the spicy seafood hotpot. This tasted so healthy with a tonne of vegetables underneath the top level including wombok cabbage, enoki mushrooms, and carrots. I did wish that it had a bit more seafood though. The soup was clear, not too spicy and carried with it all the flavour from the vegetables and seafood.
Overall, a great meal.
