The Morrison is renown for its excellent quality oysters and of course, oyster happy hour ($1, Wednesday 6pm – 7pm). It is less known for Parlour Burger, its little burger bar with a more casual atmosphere (almost old Western / coyboy like) and cheap burgers and milkshakes.
On a quiet Tuesday evening, I found myself at Parlour Burger starving for a burger. Thankfully, while we waited, we were served some free popcorn. By the way, free popcorn at bars is a wonderful substitute these days for the free peanuts (spoken by a person allergic to peanuts). The best free bar snack I’ve had in awhile though has to be the nacho chips and salsa at El Camino Cantina in The Rocks.

But back to Parlour… the Black Widow burger is pretty darn good. At $13, it’s not a huge burger nor does it come with fries (yes, sad face) but it does pack a punch. The bun is well, black, as the name suggests, from charcoal, though I’m honestly not too sure how it’s made. And I probably shouldn’t have enjoyed it so much, but the bun had clearly been grilled on the grill and so it also comes out a little greasy from cross contamination. The beef patty is juicy and fatty, and the best bit is that there were slices of jalapenos on it. Overall, an above-average burger.
